La Raza Lawyers of Santa Clara County is an unincorporated association of Chicano and Latino attorneys. We are dedicated to promoting diversity in the both the bench and bar of the greater Silicon Valley. We support and encourage law students with mentorship programs and scholorships. We also support Latino judicial candidates and encourage Latinos to apply for the bench. Finally, we help one another and attempt to represent the Latino community in the legal profession. ________________________________________________

MEMBERSHIP:

La Raza Lawyers costs only $50 per year or $40 for members with Less than 5 years of practice. Membership is free for your first year of practice or for law students.

Dues are payable each January. Please include your current business card or information, what law school you attended, your current area of practice and a valid e-mail address to receive our monthly newsletter and meeting minutes.

In addition, we hold an Annual Cinco De Mayo Party, A Scholarship Dinner in the Fall and an Annual Christmas Party each Decmeber. We also hold mixers and forums on Judicial Appointments throughout the year.

Mendez v. Westminster (1947) was the Brown v. The Board of Education decision for Mexican Americans in California.

It was filed in 1946 by Gonzalo Mendez and a group of Orange County parents and community groups to force the segregated schools of Orange County to integrate Anglos and Mexican Americans.
